Antoine Saout Profile Antoine Saout is not exactly a professional poker player; at least not yet. Hailing from Saint Martin des Champs, France, Saout just began playing poker about a year and a half ago, signing up an online poker account at Everest Poker. This simple maneuver changed his destiny, resulting in a seat in the 2009 World Series of poker Main Event that turned into a placement among the historic November Nine.
Antoine paid just $50 to enter a WSOP Satellite tournament at Everest Poker. Little did he know that he would go on to win the tournament, awarding a 2009 WSOP prize package. At just 25 years old, with little prior experience playing poker, Saout whittled his way through a fearsome field of 6,494 competitors to become one of only to foreigners to claim a seat in the November Nine.
The young Frenchman did not have an easy time working his way through the WSOP. For the last three days of tournament play, he sat to the left of prolific poker pro Phil Ivey, the most decorated member of this years November Nine. On the plus side, those three days just may have given Saout the read on Ivey that he'll need to continue competing against him when the final table returns to Las Vegas later this year.
Antoine Saout will have to overcome a substantial deficit at the WSOP final table. His chip stack is the second smallest overall, with only 9.5 million. The lowest stack is James Akenhead, with 6.8 million, but the highest, 58.93 million, belongs to formidable foe Darvin Moon.
Having just begun what may very well become a phenomenal professional poker career, Antoine Saout definitely has his work cut out for him. With no documented live tournament experience to speak of, no prior cashes under his belt, Saout would most certainly become a historical wonder should he go on to win the 2009 WSOP Championship Bracelet.
It is not that far of a stretch, when you look back at his accomplishments thus far. Antoine started playing poker, won a WSOP seat, defeated over 6,400 players and earned himself a place in the November Nine, all in a period of about 18 months. How many new poker players can claim their first ever live tournament cash was at least $1.2 million, if not as much as $8.5 million?
