Joseph Cada Profile Joseph Cada is 21 year old aspiring professional poker player from Shelby township, Michigan. Cada's aspirations actually inspired him to drop out of college, just 2 semesters in, to pursue his life-long dream. While many would question such a decision at his vital age, as did his own mother, Joseph Cada can proudly say he made the right move as he now awaits the seating of the November Nine - the final table of the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event.
Joseph first learned to play poker from his older bother, Jerome Cada. When he was 16-17 years old, Jerome decided to bring Joseph into an online poker game. The two split a $25 stake and did well enough to increase their bankroll to $100. Joseph was perfectly happy and willing to stop there, cashing out the winnings. They instead kept going to reach about $250.
Again they decided not to cash it out, and a few nights later, Joseph lost it all playing online poker. He was so upset that he gave up poker. About six months later, he decided to give it another shot. Again he lost, this time losing much more. And again, Joseph gave up poker for about six months.
It was only 2-3 years ago that Joseph once more tried his hand at online poker. He made a deposit, began playing, and has kept his bankroll on the rise ever since. While attending Macomb Community College, Cada made the transition to live poker play at the casino in Windsor. His success was solid enough to encourage him to drop out of college altogether to pursue a professional poker career.
His mother did not exactly approve of the idea, trying to persuade him to continue taking classes while following his dream. He assured her that he can resume his education at any time. In light of recent events, however, she now agrees that young Joseph made the right decision for him at that time.
Joseph Cada went into this years World Series of Poker with no prior documented live tournament history. That all changed on July 5th when Cada finish 64th in NL Holdem Event #3 to capture $6,681. It was not the most sensational victory, but it was his first, and all the more special for it coming in the 2009 WSOP.
His elation was triple less than two weeks later when Joseph took 17th place in another NL Holdem Event, #34, worth $21,533. Suddenly, Joseph Cada, at the ripe age of 21 and with no real live tournament experience to speak of, had cashed twice in the most prestigious of all poker events, and was on his way to the WSOP No Limit Holdem Championship - the granddaddy of them all.
After 12 days of rigorous poker play, whittling through an initial field of 6,494, Joseph Cada achieved the unimaginable. He became an elite member of the November Nine, playing alongside such fearsome competitors as Jeff Shulman and Phil Ivey.
Currently holding the 5th highest chip stack of 13,215,000, should this young man go on to win the 2009 World Series of Poker, he will break the new record for the youngest poker player to win the Main Event at 21; a record set just last year by 22 year old Peter Eastgate. Joseph Cada is already the youngest player ever to make it into the November Nine.
