Preflop Strategy Guide

This series of articles will suggest a different, looser opening range compared to those found in most poker literature. The reason for this is simple. We need to open enough hands and win enough pots without showdown so that we create an image whereby we get action with our big hands when we do get to a showdown.

It is important to note that a preflop strategy should be dynamic and based on table conditions. We should always adjust our VPIP/PFR based on the players sitting to our left, stack sizes and other table conditions. For example, if there are 2 shortstacks with position on us it would be a big mistakes to open small suited connectors preflop.

To start, we'll give an introduction to preflop play. The following articles will discuss open raising ranges from early position and open raising ranges from late position. We will also investigate playing from the blinds, preflop raise sizing and calling raises preflop.
