How to calculate sit and go rakeback and multi-table tournament rakeback (MTT rakeback)
Two of the most frequently asked questions’ concerning rakeback are: 1. How does rakeback work for sit and goes? and 2. How does MTT rakeback work? Players are simply unsure if they will receive a percentage of the buy-in amount, a percentage of the fee, or if they will receive any tournament rakeback at all.
Well, the simple answer is that your sit n go rakeback percentage and mtt rakeback percentage is calculated using the tournament fee: NOT THE BUY-IN! The fee is the smaller number after the tournament buy-in –usually 10% of the buy-in amount—although it is sometimes calculated into the total buy-in amount –in these cases where the fee is not explicitly shown, you can find the fee in the tournament’s lobby itself.
For sit & go tournaments and multi-table tournaments, since your tournament rakeback percentage will come from the fee taken on top of the buy-in amount you do not stand to make as much in rakeback as a cash game player, unless you play a heck of lot of tournaments. For instance, if you play in $50+$5 tournament on Cake Poker with a 33% rakeback deal, you will receive 33% of $5 –the tournament fee—or $1.65.
If you were to play in this tournament every day for a month you would accumulate a total of $49.50 in MTT rakeback; basically a free entry every month or so. So, while a good rakeback deal isn’t the awesome deal it is for cash game players, it still provides a nice little bonus every month for a tournament player, and since it is free to take advantage of a rakeback promotion, there is no point in turning it down.
On the other hand, Sit & Go players can really benefit from a sng rakeback deal, since they play considerably more tournaments than an MTT player does. For instance, a semi-professional/professional S&G player who plays 25 $30+$3 S&G’s per day would take in a very respectable $25 in sitngo rakeback every day: An extra profit of $750 every month!
Obviously, prolific online poker players who multi-table 10+ games at a time and enter 100+ tournaments every day can make a killing with a good rakeback deal –upwards of thousands of dollars every month-- which can help during those break-even stretches that can last weeks or months.
Imagine if you work your way up to playing $50+$5 S&G’s –a mid-level game that is fairlky high-stakes but not out of the realm of possibility—and you are able to fire off about 100 every day. Even if you show only a slight profit in the game itself, say $1 per tournament, your rakeback would give you a very comfortable living: You would be making $165 every day just in rakeback! That’s on top of the $100 you pull in, in profit. If you were to do this 300 of the 365 days in a year you would be making $75,000 a year, not too shabby!
So remember when you sign up for rakeback that stt rakeback, mtt rakeback and sit and go rakeback are all standard parts of any poker rakeback deal.
