Basic Strategy Full Tilt’s Rush Poker
Rush Poker is a new variation of Texas Hold’em presented by Full Tilt Poker. This style of poker emphasizes speed of play, allowing for a fast-paced intense poker experience with very little waiting around. Full Tilt has eliminated the usual poker downtime caused by sitting around after you’ve folded your hand. They’ve done this by creating an online setting in which a player can fold immediately once their cards are dealt to them. When a player chooses the “Quick Fold” option, they will instantly be moved to a different table where a new hand is beginning.
The Rush Poker room works by having a large pool of players. For each hand, all the players in the room are randomly seated at different tables. This means that for each hand, you will be playing against a new set of randomly selected players. Two poker strategies that should work well in this situation are tight-aggressive and straight-aggressive.
Rush Poker Tight Aggressive Strategy
Rush poker allows players to fold at almost any time, even before the action reaches them the first time around. Because folding is extremely tempting and easy in Rush Poker, you may want to consider using a tight-aggressive strategy. Players who continue on and bet during a hand will more than likely have great hole cards, so you will want to play only when you also have a good starting hand. Tight players will only play the following starting hands: face-card pocket pairs, A/K, A/Q, K/Q, A/J suited, Q/J, J/10, 9/10 suited, and sometimes pairs of 10s, 9s, or 8s. Once you have “Quick-Folded” your way into a good hand, bet aggressively. Many players might still be trying to use lesser hands that sometimes payoff in regular Texas Hold’em. Also, because folding is so easy and enticing, many players might fold once they see you raising a lot. Be aggressive and raise the pot early.
Rush Poker Loose Aggressive Strategy
Another viable strategy for winning at Rush poker is to simply play aggressively even if you are a little bit looser with your starting hand selection. Of course you will want to play face cards and pocket pairs, but you may also want to consider playing lower suited connectors and suited one gappers. Players will assume that because you haven’t folded that you must have a great starting hand. Even if you don’t have a strong starting draw, you can still lure other players into folding by consistently being the aggressor. Also, if you lose a few hands using this strategy, you won’t have to worry about other players catching on to your tactics. Rush poker switches up the players at your table for every hand, so most players will not get a chance to notice if you are using the same strategies over and over.
